Starting on a spiritual journey is a lifelong trip. And this journey does not come to everyone. The path and lifestyle of each person is different and not everyone cares to become more spiritual. In a world like ours, and in this time of our world, this will be the best journey you take.
Why Become More Spiritual
How does one become more spiritual? That is an interesting question. And what’s more interesting is the reason behind the question. Why do you want to become more spiritual? What happened to trigger it? Did someone tell you, “you need to become more spiritual”? Did you recently find out that your best friend was spiritual and you didn’t want to miss the boat?
The first step to understanding the world of spirituality is your intent. If you are looking for answers of your existence that maybe your childhood religion hasn’t been able to provide, then maybe this is the place for you. Or maybe another religion is the place for you. Either way, I hope this article will allow you to explore your intent and move you towards what will ultimately bring you clarity and peace.
The Conflict of Religions
A conflict occurred in my life (basically a battle of two religions) that made me question my religious outlook. How was it that something as sacred as religion could become the reason for destruction? How were two religions not able to find a foundational belief that allowed both religions to exist without one claiming superiority over the other? I will share more about this in a future post.
My Spiritual Guru
This was the start of my spiritual journey back in 2008. With the amount of faith I had in my religion, I was heartbroken and vowed to go on a search for the truth about who I was outside this body. That year I was blessed to come across my very first spiritual teacher, and someone I will forever be grateful to – Eckhart Tolle. His book ‘A New Earth’ IS the single greatest lesson I have ever learned in my life. This book continues to be the light for the rest of my journey – which I still am on. I suggest this book to everyone. And I will suggest it to you too.
I’ve mentioned a few of my top ones in this post here, which obviously includes his. Take a look and see which one(s) resonate with you. Understand that there are many paths to the same destination. We will all end up at the same place but our spiritual journeys will be different. Your spiritual journey is no less sacred than mine, but do treat it as sacred. If you have come here for the right reasons, you are already on the right path.
Spiritual Resources
Nowadays with online resources and YouTube, there is a lot of content that can help you get some of the answers you’re looking for. A lot of new age teachers are on there that can provide the guidance you need on your journey. I recommend looking at a few that helped me in my earlier days.
- Eckhart Tolle – I mean I can’t say anything more. He is as close to my Spirit Guide as anyone will get.
- SadhGuru– He is a teacher that puts things into very simple terms. He has an established yoga and meditation center in Tennessee that helps people develop their spiritual awareness.
- Thich Nhat Hanh – This Zen master will teach you basic and simple ways to live your life. He was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. OMG, what else do we need to be convinced?
- Jeffrey Allen – If you are looking at energy work, Jeffrey is the guy for it. If you able, I would suggest taking his training on MindValley called Duality.
There are also a ton of other spiritual teachers, and monks, and masters out there. What matters is how you connect to one or more. If one teacher does not vibe with you, try another but never give up on your journey to find your higher Self.
In Conclusion
Once you have truly begun the spiritual journey, you will know that all the answers you seek have been seeking you. Everything you look for out there is only a reflection of your core being – your spirit.
The answers you are looking at the outer world to provide cannot come from the outer world. All the answers are within you. All you are seeking now is for the teachers in the human experience to point you back into your self.
